Schedule a Demo or Take a Call to Subscribe.... - 2007/07/02 19:24
I was just on the Accucast site. As with most ESPs, you can sign up for their informative (in this case, "award winning") newsletter on the home page. Why not? Easy enough to unsubscribe.
Entering the e-mail address turned into a longer form, which is somewhat annoying but not unusual. It's the price that's paid for "free" information, and I can overlook that.
Here was the kicker, though:
"Would you like to learn more about Accucast? - Schedule a Demo* - Have a Sales Representative call me*
If you don't choose one of these options, along with supplying your phone number, you can't get the newsletter. I've never seen that level of... aggressiveness? insanity? not sure what to call it.
So I'm not getting the newsletter, which means their name won't become branded to me, which means I'll likely never be a client.
I've signed up for newsletters for other ESPs and have never seen anything like this. And, ironically, these other ESPs have my e-mail address and sometimes follow up with sales e-mails.
