Browsers - 2007/06/16 00:11 Internet Explorer 6 and 7 currently rule the browser wars, and Firefox has picked up some significant market share.

Apple's Safari browser is currently in beta for Windows. It is claimed to be faster than any other browser, and twice as fast as IE. (source) (It's fast on my Mac, though I use Firefox due to extensions - haven't tried Safari on Windows yet.)

Analysts think the reason for Safari on Windows is to increase the browser's market share (that would seem obvious) and to get developers working on iPhone applications (source)

Will it gain market share? Time will tell. It does play off Apple's trendy factor. I read somewhere (sorry I lost the source) that Apple's intention is to push it out with iTunes downloads, which are very significant in number.

Has anyone encountered different browsers rendering webmail (AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) differently depending on the browser?

At the very least, it may be time to start testing out your Web site and landing pages in Safari if you don't already do so.

Re:Browsers - 2007/06/17 01:09 Good point with testing on Safari. However until the browser garners any real market share I don't think web developers will bother unless they are targeting mac users. On another note, I see sometimes that safari has problems bringing up flash movies. Have you experienced this?
